Where would Rocky Balboa be with out Apollo Creed. The actor who played Apollo Carl Weathers passed peacefully on February 1st, 2024. A accomplished actor, athlete and director.
As a Rocky loved , I can not imagine Rocky without Carl Weathers playing Apollo as he was meant for that role. In actuality when Sly Stallone made Rocky, Carl was the star and Sly an unknown.
What is quite sad and understandable is that those actors who were in the original Rocky films, 1-5 are pretty much almost gone, except of course Sly and Talia (Adriannn!!) and Dolph Lundgren The last death prior to Carl was Burt Young who passed October 8th, 2023. Obliviously each person will eventually pass, who knows when but when Sly passes that will be particularly difficult for me.
For many who read this you be like who cares. But for me the Rocky movies have truly been a staple in my life , have been an inspiration to those times in my life that I need to be motivated at times and they have done that and so much more.
RIP Carl Weathers, (AKA Apollo Creed) and Burt Young (Pauley).
