Palm Sunday, The Kings Arrivial That Changed The World

As a Christian, easter is so incredibly special in a believer’s life and although we are not to easter just yet, Palm Sunday as Jesus Christ enters Jerusalem. The name Palm originates as branches waved by the crowd to greet and honor Jesus as he entered the city. This marks the holy week, which is shared across the world in western Christianity.

Taking place six days before Passover according to the book of John. Fulfilling prophecy from Zechariah 9:9, “The coming of Zion’s King – See, your king comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the of foal of a donkey”.

According to the Gospels, Jesus Christ rode on a donkey into Jerusalem, and celebrating people there laid down their cloaks and small branches of trees in front of him, singing part of Psalm 118: 25-26 – Blessed is he who comes in the name of the lord. We bless you from the house of the lord. The people taking out the branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, crying out, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the lord, even the king of Israel!

What if find interesting is the donkey is seen as an animal of peace, unlike the horse is seen as a symbol of war.  Arriving and entering as the prince of peace.

Jesus who I can only imagine was ready, but as human and God, was he afraid of what was to come, a excoriating death. I don’t think any of us can fathom dying for the sins of the world, yet alone die for people we know, only Jesus could do this.

Heart breaking that today, Jesuses name is spoke in vain, with hate, with anger despite what he did for all of us, taking our sins upon him. Jesus loves the sinner no matter what and even those who do not believe in him, he still loves him and her.

This Palm Sunday, I must remember this, we must remember that there is a GOD who loves us so much, who thinks about us each day and who died for all of us.

Have a blessed Holy week!
