In honor of Memorial Day and those who gave the ultimate sacrifice to our country, it is fitting to recognize Paul Hein. Paul, a Vietnam veteran assigned to company A, 2/48th infantry, 3rd Brigade, 10th Infantry Division, enlisted instead of waiting to be drafted. Although Paul did not die in the war, many of his fellow infantry members did, whom he wishes to honor today.
Paul left the war changed, with inclinations for things considered to be unnatural and sadistic. He remembers those men and women lost in Vietnam, especially his unit members, including:
Lieutenant Ellerman
Philly
Gutierrez
Mac
Meyer
Sgt. Cooley
Hollywood
Jacobson
Tex
Tex was wounded and died in the jungles of Vietnam after hitting a trip wire, which launched a projectile into his abdomen. Tex died in Paul’s arms, remembering the first loss in war.
