Where has Mothman Been? My search for him and his existence

Cryptozoology is a an area I take great interest in and many of you who have read my blogs know that I tend to write about Bigfoot primarily and just have incredibly elusive he or she is waiting for the day that we can get some physical proof.

Now mind you there is proof in his existence such as footprints,  some pictures and even the incredible Gimlin film. In addition, there are real researchers searching for him each day like the crew of Finding Bigfoot with well know researchers such as Cliff and Bobo. I have other interest in other well know cryptos such as Lochness, Skinwalkers .

Yeti and so many that are really hard to go into detail. Many believe that these creatures, entities don’t exist, but I believe they do along with Aliens and UFO’s. One could say well how can you believe in something you have never seen before but in all honestly there has been some evidence and this type of evidence can not really be created by human beings. One of the newest cryptids I was recently exposed too and I am not really sure why it took me so long to dive into it was Mothman. What really triggered this interest is watching The Mothman Prophecies with Richard Gere, Laura Linney, Debra Messing and Will Patton.

I must say this was a very interesting film one for the life of me doesn’t understand why it took me this long to see it,  as the Mothman seems perfectly plausible as being something that could exist, but I know there hasn’t been much evidence of its existence another creature who is elusive for good reason, imagine what society would do to it if it caught it. 

It is my belief that Bigfoot is another incredible intelligent cryptid that knows how to evade people and could be traced back to extraterrestrial and what leads me to believe that is that in many cases when cameras, video are around somehow those devises shut down which happens also in the paranormal when spirits don’t wish to be recorded or seen.

I am not a crackpot, I think there are things that exist today we have never seen or heard from but we have this gut feeling something more exist out there if we keep an open mind. I believe in the paranormal because frankly I have experienced events throughout my life allowing me to believe. I think most are willing to believe but afraid to speak out afraid to sound like a looney, which is why many refuse to go on camera to speak about those beliefs. 

The Mothman call a West Virginia folklore is a creature that reportedly lives in Point Pleasant area from November 15, 1966 to December 15, 1967. The first newspaper report published in the Point Pleasant Register date November 16, 1966, titled “Couples See Man-Sized Bird…Creature…Something”.

The history states on November 15, 1966 two young couples from Point Pleasant, Roger and Linda Scarberry and Mary Mallette told police they saw a large grey creature who eyes glowed “Red” when the cars headlights picked it up.  Described as a “Large flying man with ten-foot wings”  following their car while they were driving in an area outside of town know as the “TNT area” a site of a former WWII munitions plant.

Many speculated that the creature was in fact a large bird with red eyes more specifically a Heron. Other incidents include reports by a contractor Newell Patridge that he shined his flashlight in a large field  and something nearby eyes glowed like bicycle reflectors.  Others have said that the sighting fit the sandhill Crane, a large American crane almost as high as a man with a seven-foot wing span featuring circles of reddish coloring around the eyes and the bird may have wandered out of it migration route.

After the December 15, 1967 collapse of the Silver Bridge and the death of 46 people, this incident gave rise to the legend and connected the Mothman sighting to the bridge collapse.

I know it doesn’t appear to be a lot of proof of Mothman, but according to Georgian newspaper Svobodnaya Gruziya, Russian UFLogist claim the Mothman sightings in Moscow foreshadow the 1999 Russian apartment bombings.  Other instances include in 2016, a published photo purported to be of Mothman taken by an anonymous man while driving on Route 2.

1966-1967, Point Pleasant: Mothman First Appears Before Silver Bridge Collapse

The creature was first seen on November 15, 1966 by Roger and Linda Scarberry, their cousin Lonnie Button, and Steve and Mary Mallette. One night, the group was driving past the West Virginia Ordnance Works, located about seven miles north of Point Pleasant, when they noticed two red lights near the factory gate.

They stopped the car to investigate and discovered that the lights were actually the glowing eyes of a “large animal, shaped like a man, but bigger, maybe six and a half or seven feet tall, with big wings folded against its back,” according Linda Scarberry in an eyewitness account detailed at Mothman Museum. The creature chased the group at speeds of over 100 miles per hour toward Route 62.

The following night, the creature was seen by Mrs. Marcella Bennett and then again on November 24 by four more people. On November 25, the Mothman was seen standing in a field when it suddenly spread its wings and flew away. On January 11, 1967, the Mothman was seen hovering around the Point Pleasant Bridge, also called the Silver Bridge. On and off throughout that year, more reports were filed about sightings of the creature around the bridge. Finally, on December 15, 1967, the bridge collapsed and killed 46 people.

1986, Chernobyl: Mothman Sighted Before Nuclear Disaster

In 1986, people in Chernobyl started reporting sightings of what they called the Black Bird of Chernobyl. Several reported seeing a large headless man with red eyes and black wings. These sightings continued until the night before the meltdown of the Chernobyl nuclear plant.

2001, New York City: Mothman Sighting Before the Twin Towers Came Down

On September 11, 2001 in New York City, a large, winged creature was reportedly seen flying from the World Trade Center Towers on the day of the infamous terrorist attack.

2007, Minneapolis: Mothman Appears Before Saint Anthony Falls Bridge Collapses

In 2007, an eight-lane steel bridge on I-35W collapsed during evening rush hour. Thirteen people were killed and nearly 150 injured. After the collapse, George Noory received multiple calls on his radio program Coast to Coast AM from people reporting Mothman sightings.

2009, Chihuahua, Mexico: Mothman Sighted Before Swine Flu Pandemic

In 2009, a Swine Flu (H1N1) pandemic started in rural Mexico near Chihuahua and spread throughout the world with more than 14,000 deaths confirmed worldwide. Investigators traced the pandemic’s origins to the month of April, just a month after more than 30 sightings of Mothman in and around Chihuahua.

More Real Mothman Sightings From 2001-2018

Ever since the tragic Silver Bridge collapse, Mothman sightings have been reported all over the world. More recent Mothman sightings include:

• 2001: The creature was also reported in Sedalia, Missouri, in Camden, Maine and in Mawnan, Cornwall, England.
• 2002: The creature was reported in San Diego, California.
• 2003: Mothman was reportedly seen in Orizaba, Veracruz, Mexico.
• 2004: It was reported in Valles de la Salle, Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico; Standing Rock Indian Reservation, Ziebach County, South Dakota; Newport, Tennessee and in Martinez, California.
• 2005: A large, man-shaped bird creature was reported in Cache, Comanche County, Oklahoma; Washington County, Pennsylvania and in San Marcos, California.
• 2006: There were a large number of Mothman sightings in Mexico, Canada, England, Poland, Argentina, Brazil, Russia and all across the United States.
• 2011 through 2018: Mothman was spotted in Chicago and near Lake Michigan multiple times (nearly 70 at latest count) by numerous witnesses. These came in the wake of earlier sightings in 2011, 2014, and 2016 in the region, as well.
• 2016: In 2016, reports surfaced that a man in Point Pleasant had captured video of Mothman. Images have surfaced, but the reports remain unconfirmed, according to Snopes.

Many Mothman Sightings

Mothman sightings are not commonplace, but they appear to be ongoing. That they sometimes precede disasters may be significant, or it may merely be coincidence. Only time will tell as patterns emerge whether this is urban legend, folklore, or something supernatural.

Since learning more about the Mothman and just how long this creature has appeared to be around dating back to 1914 probably beyond. It is said the Mothman is some sort of prophetic being that can tell the future associated with Aliens, if this is true the Mothman can be of great assistance of warning us.

Sighting continue to pop up throughout the United States and the world as this creature has the ability to travel , but I wonder can it even travel between dimensions which many of you may not believe is possible, but lets keep an open mind to what we don’t know may exist out there today.

Just like myself we write about this mystical creature in hopes to know more but if were to come face to face with them would we be ok. Its said that those who have come face to face with them experience causes confusion, extreme fear and psychological distress that can last months and lead to death or insanity, so I can imagine those who don’t want to see the Mothman.

I am unsure what prompts Mothman from coming out or showing itself with it’s ability to fly away no wonder it can really come out in day or night but it appears it has a purpose. You may also see images and videos of the purported Mothman but we must try to remember there are many pranksters out there who will only try to deceive you in believing.

Mothman continues to be in popular culture as our societies interest continues to peak, is this just some sophisticated hoax? are to say but sightings have been happen for decades, even unsolved mysteries did a piece on it.

I encourage you to look into the Mothman and if its something we can believe, for many will choose not to believe , even Bigfoot is to far of  reach, but if you believe in UFO’s, Aliens and the alike, Mothman shouldn’t be a far stretch.
