I loved short stories as a child , even today but often dont write many short stories but probably should. I remember at times when I was feeling down, sad , happy I would just sit down and write my short story as it was stuck in my head at that point, always having paper near by. This was probably one of those moments I wrotee. Many times the themes of my writing was flying away, running away seeing the world. Anything was better then the world I lived in that time.
For many do not know my life as a child was not good, I lived with a horrible devil of a grandfather who mistreated me every day, put me down , destroyed my confidence from the young age of five. Stories were and continue to be escape at times. This week come along once again and hear my voice, my kid voice.
I am thinking of this story and one of my favorite animations even today is An American Tail. This story with the music and story line gets me even today. As a young boy I really didnt understand the concept of what an immigrant was or immigrating from another country.
Welcome to this Weeks Weekly Feature number #11, Stories from a child’s past, Stories unearthed from my childhood. These stories I am sharing as a young child I had and continue to have a love for writing.
The writings so far seemed to be when I was in between the ages of ten to thirteen. Many of the examples I provided do have typos, run on sentences and grammatical errors so don’t be surprised if see those.
As a young writer I just loved to write, putting aside punctuation, good sentence structure and my English teach would probably be lecturing me right now, you may want to lecture me, but know this is where my love began.

Marty the Rat and His Adventure Transcribed
Once upon a time lived a rat named Marty and he wanted to see the world and he had to find to get around and then there was a bullfrog and then he thought he would tell the bullfrog to take him to a bird to fly him somewhere far away from his home and he got to see the big world filled with houses and he loved every minute of it and flied for hours and hours and the bird said it was time to stop and get a drink of water and he said it’s time to stop and let him go on his own way and so he went into the store and the people were scared to death of him because they thought he was a mean one but he was not he was a good time in the big world and then he flyed back to his home and told all his best friends and was very happy. The end.
The story of Marty the rat is fairly straight forward about a rat named Marty, who’s only wish is to get away, far far away. In trying to get a way he looks to someone who can take him, so he visits his friend the Bullfrog who he asks, but the Bullfrog takes him to a bird.
The bird takes Marty on to his wings and flies for hours and hours, allowing Marty to see the world. After so many hours of flying the bird gets tired and gets a drink of water. After which the Bird tells Marty that it’s time he goes his own way. Before going back home he stops in a store to buy something, but everyone is scared to death of him because they think he is bad.
Marty is a good rat, he soon flies back home and told all his best friends and he was very happy the end.
For those have been following my stories, this story has very similar scenes to an animated film I have loved since a child called “An American Tail”. In one of the scenes Fievel Mousekewitz attempts to go to America only to be separated from his family.
In one of the scenes if I remember correctly Fievel a mouse in this case flies on a pigeon’s back named Henri Le Pieeon with a french accent and see’s america. In this scene there is a song “Never say Never”
Growing up I always wanted to get a way, as a young boy I used my imagination in writing to try to do that. In the end Marty is happy, which I believe it is possible to be happy.
I still believe that to this day, even though life can be difficult, it’s worth living, and through writing you can create any world you want.
I truly did want to run away as a child, I was verbally abused as a child from my grandfather, as my mother and sister lived with him until I was about about 29 years old. Since the age about 5 I lived in his home, his rules. Although my mother was always there, she defended us to the day she died, but was unfortunately stuck with him unable to survive on her own relying on him, a price we all paid dearly. He didn’t provide a grandfathers love, but more like a resentment and hate for having to take care of us, being a man who had kids and never took care of any of them, leaving them to fend for themselves.
Hopefully reading these, you will get into my mind a little bit to see who I was a child. Obviously I am not the same person when I was a child, but those abuses stick with me always.
Thank you for joining me this week and hope you enjoy stories from my childhood, displaying my love of writing as a child.
